Social media is essential to any entrepreneur’s toolkit, especially in this modern age. The truth is that social media can provide us with so much, from new potential connections to branding opportunities and everything in between.

How does an entrepreneur succeed on social media? There are several different routes; ideally, you should create a customized plan for your goals. Here are a few tips to help you get started.

Know Your Audience

First things first – you need to understand your audience. All entrepreneurs must be skilled at this, as target audiences change according to the product or niche. Take some time to study your social media audience, learning what they are looking for and how to hold their attention.

One way to help understand your audience is by studying your competitors. Theoretically, they will have the same target audience as you, so see how they are engaging with their audience. Take notes on what is and isn’t working.

Choose the Right Platform

One of the biggest mistakes you can make with social media is choosing the wrong platform for you or your business. Each social media platform has something different to offer, so you need to pick the one that meshes best with your goals.

For example, LinkedIn is a great place to go if you want to network with other professionals. However, if you’re hoping to market a product, this is the wrong place to go. Instead, consider trying out Instagram or TikTok.

Continuous Content Planning

Once you’ve picked a platform, it’s time to consider your content. The most effective social accounts post regular updates. Or, to put it another way, they have continuous content plans. For example, some social media accounts try to post at least three times a week as their metric for active success.

This means you need to create content and a schedule for sharing that content. There are several ways to automate your posts once content has been made. Don’t be afraid to utilize these tools, as they will make your life easier. Your new best friend should be a social media scheduler (what you use will vary depending on the platform you pick).

The most effective way to create continuous content is in batches. So rather than creating one post at a time, you create a week’s worth (or more) of content, which can then be scheduled for publication.
